Community Guidelines
Last updated: April 18, 2026 · Version 2026-04-18
Kudos is a platform for recognizing people, teams, and moments with on-chain Kudos. These guidelines describe what belongs on Kudos and what doesn't. They apply to every Kudos you create, distribute, or claim.
By creating a Kudos you confirm that your content complies with these guidelines and does not infringe on any third-party intellectual property. Content that violates these guidelines may be removed and repeat or egregious violations may result in account suspension. See our Terms of Service for the full legal framework.
1. Our Principles
Kudos exists to celebrate real accomplishments — product launches, team wins, community contributions, and personal milestones. Content on the platform should be truthful, earned, and respectful of the people and organizations it references.
Three rules carry most of the weight:
- Own what you post. Only mint content you created or have explicit permission to use.
- Represent accurately. Don't pretend to be someone or something you aren't.
- Keep it constructive. No harassment, hate, or targeted harm.
2. Intellectual Property
You are responsible for every asset you upload and every claim you make on a Kudos. Don't mint content you don't own or have permission to use.
2.1 Not allowed
- Copyrighted artwork, photography, music, video, or writing used without a license or the owner's permission
- Trademarked logos, wordmarks, or brand assets used without authorization from the rights holder
- AI-generated imagery that reproduces another artist's signature style without attribution or consent
- Content minted from leaks, unreleased media, or material obtained without authorization
2.2 Allowed
- Work you personally created
- Work licensed to you under a license that permits on-chain minting and distribution
- Public-domain or Creative Commons content used in accordance with its license terms
- Your own organization's brand assets, when you have the authority to use them
Kudos does not pre-screen or verify ownership. If a rights holder submits a valid takedown notice under our Terms of Service, we will remove the Kudos and may disable the creator's account.
3. Impersonation & Identity
Kudos are a form of public recognition, so identity matters. Don't present yourself as a person or organization you aren't.
- No pretending to be another individual, creator, or public figure
- No posing as a company, project, DAO, or team without authorization
- No spoofed handles, logos, or “official-looking” Kudos that aren't verified
- No mimicking the look of Kudos itself (our logo, UI, or system notifications)
Official Kudos on the platform are tied to verified organizations. If your Kudos mentions an organization you're not part of, mint it as a Community Kudos instead of claiming it as official.
4. Harmful Content
Kudos is not a place for content that targets or endangers people. Do not create Kudos that:
- Harass, threaten, bully, or incite violence against anyone
- Attack people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age
- Sexualize minors in any way
- Glorify self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders
- Promote terrorism, organized violence, or illegal activity
- Contain graphic violence or gore without clear context and consent
5. Misleading Content
Because Kudos are meant to be earned and shared, deceptive Kudos damage trust in the platform. Do not create Kudos that:
- Award credentials, certifications, or employment you did not grant or cannot substantiate
- Make false claims about another person's accomplishments or behavior
- Misrepresent the source, sponsor, or affiliation of the Kudos
- Contain fake airdrops, scams, phishing links, or malware
- Promote financial products or investments with false or unsubstantiated claims
6. Company & Brand Use
Kudos is commonly used for workplace recognition, launch participation, and community milestones. When your Kudos references a company, team, or product:
- Use your own organization's brand only if you're authorized to speak for it
- Don't use another company's logo, product name, or trade dress without permission
- Community Kudos may mention an organization as context, but must not imply an official endorsement
- Reserve the Official badge for Kudos minted through a verified organization account
7. Good Examples
A few patterns we see working well:
- Workplace recognition: “Q2 Customer Hero” from a verified company account, given to a teammate for standout support work.
- Launch participation: “Shipped v2” given to everyone on the team that cut the release.
- Community milestones: “100 Days of Code” as a Community Kudos someone mints for themselves after hitting the milestone.
- Event attendance: “On-site at ETHDenver 2026” minted by the event organizer for verified attendees.
If you're not sure whether a Kudos is a good fit, imagine the recipient showing it on their profile. Would they be proud to display it? Would the people referenced be comfortable being associated with it?
8. Reporting & Enforcement
If you see a Kudos that violates these guidelines, report it to trust@kudosonbase.com. Include the Kudos URL and a short description of the issue.
Depending on severity, we may warn the creator, remove the Kudos from discoverability, delist it from the launchpad, or suspend the creator's account. Intentional IP infringement, impersonation, and content that endangers people are grounds for immediate removal.
Our full legal framework, including DMCA, dispute resolution, and termination, lives in the Terms of Service.
