Kudos FAQ

Everything you need to know about minting with Kudos.

Minting Basics

What minting options do I have on Kudos?

Kudos offers two paths:
  • Launchpad (Scheduled Mint): create a collection, set a start (and optional end) time, and stage it on the Launchpad for discovery during your window.
  • Quick Mint (Self-Distribute): mint immediately and distribute via CSV upload, email claims, or wallet addresses.

Can I test a mint before going live?

Yes. Both Launchpad and Quick Mint support a test mint to your wallet so you can verify media, metadata, and display before launch/distribution.

Is it better to mint on mobile or on desktop web?

The best experience is on desktop web. On mobile, browsers and in-app views often block pop-ups or wallet modals, which can make it harder to sign in and complete a mint successfully.

If you do mint on mobile, we recommend:
  • Using email sign-in (simplest, least friction), or
  • Opening Kudos directly inside your wallet's built-in browser (e.g., Coinbase Wallet's browser), so wallet prompts work more reliably.

You can mint on mobile, but expect a smoother, more consistent flow on desktop.

Costs & Fees

What does it cost to mint?

A flat $5 service fee applies to each mint (regardless of quantity). You set the mint price. You can optionally sponsor gas to make the mint free for users; otherwise, minters pay gas.

Do I have to pay to mint a Kudos?

Minting on Kudos is subject to:
  • Standard gas fees on the Base network, and/or
  • Pricing set by the creator of the drop (if they chose to charge for the mint).

Some creators may sponsor gas or set the mint price to free; others may set a specific price. Any cost will be shown before you confirm your mint.

Launchpad vs Quick Mint

When should I use the Launchpad?

Use Launchpad when you want a public, discoverable drop with a scheduled start (and optional end) time, plus a dedicated Launchpad detail page.

When should I use Quick Mint?

Use Quick Mint for immediate distribution, private/employee recognition campaigns, or closed-group drops. Distribute by CSV, email, or wallet addresses; no public listing on Launchpad.

Can I switch modes after creating a collection?

No. Choose the path that matches your goal at creation time. You can always create another collection in the other mode.

Network Support

Which networks are supported?

Kudos supports mints on the Base network today, with plans to expand to more EVM chains in the future.

Wallets

Do I need a Base app wallet?

No. Any self-custody wallet that supports Base (e.g., MetaMask, Rainbow, Zerion, Base app) will work.

Why is there only one mint per wallet, and can I use different wallets for different Kudos?

Each drop on Kudos is designed as one mint per wallet. This keeps recognition fair and prevents people from farming multiple copies of the same Kudos.

We strongly recommend using one primary wallet for all your Kudos. Over time, this builds a continuous, verifiable collection of your contributions in one place, rather than spreading your recognition across multiple addresses.

If I sign up with my email instead of a wallet, what happens?

When you sign up with email, Kudos creates a wallet for you automatically behind the scenes. This lets you mint and hold Kudos without managing a seed phrase or a separate wallet app.

A few important details:
  • You won't be able to import this embedded wallet into other platforms or Base apps yet.
  • You don't need to worry about a passkey or seed phrase for this wallet.
  • You'll be able to see your wallet address in the app under Settings, and that address is where your Kudos are held.
  • Sending and receiving funds from this wallet will be available in Kudos at a later date; for now, it's primarily used to hold your Kudos mints.

If you prefer full control via a self-custody wallet, you can also connect a Base-compatible wallet and mint directly to that address instead.

Distribution & Airdrops

How do airdrops work?

In Quick Mint, upload a CSV with one recipient per line (email or 0x address). We batch mint and deliver to each recipient. You can also send a claim link.

Where is my media stored?

Assets are stored on Arweave and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for permanence and reliability.
